Paul "Fozz" Fassbender was born in Marquette, Michigan, and played for the first ever Midget Major AAA team in Marquette (Electricians) in 1987-88. The following season Paul played for Marquette Redman High School where he served as a captain in 1988-89. After serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, and participating in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield (1991), Paul moved to Ypsilanti to begin his college tour at Eastern Michigan. Coach Fozz played 4 years for the Eagles Division I Non-Varsity team where he was named captain after his sophomore season. After playing, Coach Fozz was an assistant coach for 3 years before being offered the head coaching position. Paul served 4-1/2 seasons as the head coach at EMU, compiling a record of 90 wins, 61 losses, and 9 ties. During the 2004-05 season, Coach Fozz was named CSCHL (Central States Collegiate Hockey League) Coach of the Year with a 27-11-3 record and a #7 national ranking. Paul has been a part of the only two Eagle hockey teams to compete for the National Title, in 1994 and 2000. Paul currently resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan with his wife, Cynthia, a High School Language Arts Teacher, and their 2 children Michael Paul (8) and Elliana (6). |

Mike McCoy graduated from Pioneer in 2005, having played varsity football for two seasons and varsity hockey for three. He was one of the most prolific scorers in Pioneer history, compiling 76 goals and 63 assists in three seasons. He was named to the All SEC, All MMHSL, and All State teams in his senior year. Mike has helped coach the Pioneer hockey team for the last several seasons, while pursuing a degree in Business Management at Eastern Michigan University. Mike keeps busy with school, coaching, and his three-year-old son Tyson. |
