We hope you will enjoy looking over our site. The purpose of this
site is one of communication to the Pioneer Hockey family and other
interested persons. This includes all the players, parents and Pioneer
students, alumni and all persons loyal to the Pioneers. We extend our
gratitude to all Pioneer students and alumni who have served the "Purple
Pride".
The Pioneer Hockey program emerged under the leadership of Pioneer
teacher Art Armstrong in 1962. Coach Armstrong remained Pioneer's coach
until his passing in the eighties. Following in his father's footsteps,
Steve Armstrong became the coach in 1994 and continued the tradition.
During the tenure of the program there have been six state championship teams.
Under the Pioneer banner, twenty three players have received All State
honors, some players more than once. Coach Art Armstrong was
honored as All State coach, plus numerous other awards. It is
estimated that better than 1200 young men have participated in the
Pioneer Hockey tradition. Several of these young men have gone on to
successful college careers and into professional hockey.
